A desk sergeant at Fort Sam Houston says the San Antonio Army post has been put on lockdown for an undisclosed reason. The official says the lockdown began Sunday evening, and it's undetermined how long it will last.

From our Gannett affiliate KENS 5 in San Antonio: Fort Sam Houston was placed on lockdown around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, according to multiple reports. It is unclear why the post was placed on lockdown.

Fort Sam Houston, named for the first president of the Republic of Texas, was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1975, according to the installation's website. The first soldier arrived in 1845.

Police arrested a man accused of leading them on a chase Saturday after robbing a bank on the Northwest Side. Erwin Hernandez , 51, faces two charges of aggravated robbery after he allegedly entered a Bank of America in the 4300 block of Northwest Loop 410, displayed a handgun, and demanded money, San Antonio police spokesman Douglas Greene said.

San Antonio police investigate a possible murder scene Monday November 17, 2014 on the West Side after a neighbor spotted a body in the back yard of a home on the 300 block of Angela street. San Antonio Police spokesman Douglas Greene said the body was found with multiple gunshot wounds.

The popular Austin-based taco restaurant Torchy's Tacos announced Tuesday that it will open its first location in the Alamo City on Dec. 18. The restaurant, which has a cult following and is known for its unique take on traditional tacos, will open at The Shops at Lincoln Heights at 999 E. Basse Road in a 4,363 square foot space previously occupied by Posada Del Rey. "San Antonio has been on our hit list for a while and we're glad to finally be opening our doors," said Founder and VP of Culinary and Marketing, Michael Rypka, in a release.
