Showtime exec: Mayweather, McGregor to hype bout with multi-city media tourtheScore
Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor could finally be seen in the same room before the month is out.
Showtime executive Stephen Espinoza - one of several parties involved in their August bout - revealed Monday on "The MMA Hour" the fighters will embark on a multi-city media tour to promote the matchup, possibly as early as late June.
McGregor's native Ireland has been posited as a potential stop on the press tour, SiriusXM's Luke Thomas reports, citing Mayweather's uncle and retired boxer Jeff Mayweather.
"The Notorious" is no stranger to traveling the world with an opponent in tow, as he and Jose Aldo went on a similar tour to promote their featherweight title bout for UFC 194, where he KO'd the Brazilian in 13 seconds.
The blockbuster boxing match was confirmed last Wednesday, although both Mayweather and McGregor have been rather tight-lipped since, presumably until their tilt's first presser is booked.
They'll meet in a 12-round boxing match on Aug. 26 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
